Coalescence is a scripted TV series about grief, blame and impossible forgiveness.
Set in a claustrophobic British seaside town, the series follows Zara Rigby, a local cello teacher whose life is destroyed when her eighteen-year-old son, Martin, is killed by a single punch during a petty late-night altercation.
As Zara is pulled into the police investigation and the town’s hunger for justice, she leans on her lifelong best friend, Eve Taylor — until the truth emerges: the boy who threw the fatal punch is Liam, Eve’s own son.
What follows is a devastating psychological standoff between two mothers bound by love, betrayal, loyalty and loss. As the community turns on Liam, Zara is forced to choose between retribution and a far more painful path: trying to salvage the ruins of her friendship with Eve, and somehow find grace for the boy who took everything from her.
Dark, raw and deeply human, Coalescence blends emotional tragedy with uncomfortable gallows humour — the absurd, everyday interruptions that make grief feel more brutal, more alive, and more true.
