KINGDOM OF IRON is an ambitious, returnable drama that reimagines a largely overlooked chapter of Welsh history as a British Western, where iron is gold, the ironmasters are frontier barons and Merthyr is a lawless boomtown rising from the valleys. Rooted in real people and events, it follows Emma, an ambitious young aristocrat who inherits an iron empire and becomes determined to reform the brutal world around it.  

Her vision draws her towards Dic Penderyn, a charismatic, fiercely principled ironworker who believes change may still be possible from within. As their forbidden relationship deepens, Emma is pulled between the man she loves, the workers she wants to help and the empire she is determined to build. 

As unrest turns to revolution, Emma’s idealism is steadily forged into something harder. KINGDOM OF IRON brings the mythology of the Western to industrial South Wales, a story of ambition, class, love and power at the birth of the modern world.
