The Road of Excess - Feature Documentary (Official Trailer)

THE ROAD OF EXCESS is Jamie Jones’ feature documentary about fame, addiction, toxic masculinity, mental health and the search for meaning after notoriety has faded.

The film follows Welsh skateboarder, endurance athlete and former Dirty Sanchez star Mathew Pritchard as he prepares to row across the Atlantic, using the extreme physical challenge as a way into a much deeper story about celebrity culture, friendship, self-destruction and recovery.

THE ROAD OF EXCESS premiered on the festival circuit in 2023, winning Best Documentary Feature at Manchester Film Festival, before screening internationally at Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema and Mountainfilm in Telluride and many more.

The film later received its London premiere at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, followed by a Q&A with Mathew Pritchard, director Jamie Jones and producers Ed Arthur and Ben Falk of Odelay Films.

Released in Welsh cinemas on World Mental Health Day, 10 October 2025, the film has gone on to build strong word-of-mouth and is now reaching wider UK audiences through a 2026 cinema tour and Q&A screenings with Mathew Pritchard.

Short Synopsis: Through the story of ex-Dirty Sanchez star Mathew Pritchard and his attempt to row the Atlantic, THE ROAD OF EXCESS explores fame, addiction, male friendship, mental health and the painful search for balance after a life lived at the extreme.
